Nawlins'
So last weekend I went on vacation to the BIG EASY
I went alone and had a ton of fun. A great vacation for the most part. I have pics to share...soon.
New Orleans is a fabulous city, wild and crazy, historic and just interesting.
Where I stayed:
The low point of the trip
I knew I was going to be staying in a dive.
But this place was more like a crack house!
The Grand Palace...not grand, not good, not even poor...
BAD!VERY BAD!
It was too funny.
Highlights:
Toilet overflowing every morning...switch to diff room.
No id or credit card required at the front desk
Russian mail order brides at the front desk
Sink clogged up in second room
Only two floors open for guest. The rest were gutted for renovations. And yet, there wasn't any construction going on. HMMM.
A lounge that was never open
So much more to say...but it was just bad.
Anyways!
I went to the Aquarium - awesome!
Otters, turtles, frogs, sharks and catfish the size of small children.
Jazz Dinner on the River-
The Mississippi River is fabulous!
Its huge
Its wonderous
I prayed that if my plane were to crash it would crash over the Mississippi
and not Cincinnatti - cause who wants to die in Cincinnatti
Bourbon Street-
Its wild
There are like five hustler stores and strip clubs.
You can rent the balcony and have nasty underage lookin hustler hunnies rub up against you while you throw beads at drunken fools.
Lotsa drinks-pricey but strong.
Strip clubs - note: tipsy shannon + neon sign proclaiming "unatural acts of lovemaking"+no cover = nasty strip club and an uncomfortable shannon. I drank my beer (it would have been rude not too) and decided that It was time to turn in.
Cemetaries-
Cool, fascinating. Some house over 1000 bodies. How? Lets just say there is alot of decomposing and crushing going on.
Met a cute artist boy at cemetary. Went to hook up with him later but got lost went back to Bourbon St.Had beads thrown at me. Not sure why.
French Quarter-
Bigger than I thought. kept getting lost. Yummy Beignets! Coffee with chicory to die for!

It was a great trip. I plan on going back. it really is a city to see. Its not just about the liquor, boobs, beads and booze. Its old and dirty and you smell urine in the weirdest places. But you can feel the history and people are just enjoying themselves. And its alive! Really alive with music and art and smells.
